Who we are…
Open hands exists to help people in need bringing hope for a better tomorrow. Our heart is to help those in need in our community year round. Our programs focus on different groups in the community such as seniors, veterans, children, and families. Our goal is to expand our current programs to reach even more people. The need in our community is great and we hope to be able to help as many people as possible.
Food Pantry
Open Hands is a Food Pantry and we receive our food from The Rio Grande Valley Food Bank and distribute food to the people of Donna, Tx. With this food we have monthly food distributions for Senior and Veteran clients. In addition, during the holidays food such as turkeys for thanksgiving are distributed.
Thrift Store
The Open Hands Thrift Store sells low cost items to our clients and the public. All the funds raised from the Thrift Store are used to fund our programs here at Open Hands. Donating used items to our Thrift Store is a simple way to support Open Hands.
Other Programs
Over the years Open Hands has started many programs to help those in our community. Programs such as school shoes and backpacks, christmas toys and year-round construction projects. These programs have benefited hundreds of children over the years, and will continue to bless families in Donna, Tx.
